I bought this as a gift for my daughter, who loves to sit outside and write in her journal.I thought the tripod would be perfect, so she could move it around, and even take it with her.Unfortunately, despite our best efforts using the tripod is a disappointment. When she sits in the seat, it touches the ground. We tried shortening the rope at the top as short as it could be and still have enough to stretch into the dowel pockets. This allowed her to just barely get off the ground. She is not a heavy girl, only around 120 pounds, so there is no way this product can be used as intended. Also, the dowel bumps against the tripod legs, not allowing any swinging motion at all. I would not recommend this version of the product to anyone. We have yet to try to mount the chair alone onto the porch, so I can not comment on the chair itself yet.
