(More customer reviews)My job basically keeps me in a chair 8+ hours day. The worst thing in the world for me is feeling a lot of pressure to get things done while simultaneously feeling a lot of pressure on my neck, back or backside...
So I finally decided to bite the bullet and get a real ergonomic chair.I wanted something with a lot of adjustments so I could be sure I could customize it to my lanky 6'3" frame, I also wanted neck and lumbar support.But the thing I really wanted more than anything else, I wanted a really good pad that was soft, yet firm and would not wear out after a year or two.I figured memory foam would be my best option, but was intrigued when I discovered the MyComfort Intelli-Gel.It is firm under low pressure but "buckles" under high pressure.This creates a firm yet soft feel and because it is a gel, not a foam, it doesn't wear out (just to clarify, the pad has a layer of foam and a layer of gel).
So I got one.Admittedly I didn't like it on the first day. I was not used to having to "sit up" in my chair.My style was more of a slouch if you know what I mean.So after a couple days I grabbed my old chair and pulled it up the the desk.I was somewhat shocked when I sat down.There was no back support and the padding wasn't working for me either, I immediately slouched to relieve pressure off my backside and really started the miss the lumbar support I now realized I'd been enjoyed for the last few days.I jumped out of the old chair and grabbed the MyComfort chair again.
After a few weeks I was hooked.I found the exact settings that worked the best for me.The seat cushion loosened up a bit which made it even better.I can pull up close to my desk (adjust the armrests so they don't hit the edge) so I can be close to the screen, close to the keyboard but in a slightly reclined position.My lumbar is properly supported and I can position the neck rest so that I can keep my head upright, but slightly supported at the time.
Surprisingly one of my favorite features, and something I was not looking for, was the height adjust on this chair goes a little higher than other chairs I've owned.Because I am tall, I could never quite raise a chair as high as I wanted.I raise this one all the way up and it's just right.
The main point I want to make is, if you have to spend a lot of time sitting and working, you need a chair that can support you.I believe some people who are looking for a really "comfortable" chair might not like this chair.But it really depends on what kind of comfort you're looking for.If you looking for a sofa kind of feeling, you will be disappointed.If you want something that holds you up in all the right places for 8 hours at a time, then this chair is very comfortable.
I'm giving it 5 stars because it really worked for me, and I now rely on it as a critical tool of my trade.
