(More customer reviews)I bought this chair after much searching for an all-mesh chair for my home office.I work from home, 8-10 hours per day, so I needed something that was going to be comfortable and hold up well to prolonged use (my last chair was a cheap IKEA model...the lift mechanism broke and became unstable to sit in it).I am also a big person - both tall and fat - so I needed something that would fit well.
This chair looks great - all black mesh and silver metal modern styling. It also is quite comfortable even after sitting for 6 hours straight. It has a little lumbar support built into the design, plus the all-mesh fabric keeps me cool.It seems to be made well - nice quality metal for the frame, arms, and base - the mesh is a good heavyweight that doesn't stretch out - the seat frame was straight and tight upon delivery - and it was very easy to assemble. One note: when you finish assembling it, sit down very carefully as the tilt mechanism is set to the least resistance and the chair leans WAY back - I almost capsized the thing when I plopped down the first time! You might want to give the tension knob a few turns before you sit so that it doesn't flip over on you...
So, with all those positives, you're probably wondering why I didn't give it 5 stars...Well, it does have a couple of drawbacks:
1) I thought the chair could be locked so that it could be set to only tilt back so far, but I could still move the chair to the full upright position when necessary. Not so - if you set the lock when it is tilted, it will stay at that exact position and you cannot move it upright (or back for that matter) unless you release the lock. Maybe if the chair didn't tilt back so far, I wouldn't feel the need to lock it at a lesser degree.Maybe if I didn't need to use it in an actual work environment (sit up to type, lean back to review or talk on the phone, then back up to type again, etc) it would be fine to just lock it all the time in the same position. It's not a huge issue, but still annoying.
2) The arms sit a bit too low for tall people.I'm 5' 10" and I cannot use them as armrests - they are ~3 inches too low.I can use them to rest my hands, so the overall feel of the chair is still comfortable. But I think tall people should be aware that the arms may not fit where you want and they are not adjustable.
3) Because it is all mesh, beware if you wear shorts and sit in this chair for more than 10-15 minutes.Just like lawn chairs, bare skin will stick to the mesh and can be painful when you stand up - plus you get the mesh pattern embedded into your skin for the next hour!
Other than those three MINOR issues, I really like this chair and would recommend it for someone who is looking for a modern, cool, high-back office chair.
