For starters,if you happen to see this chair around in a store it may go by a different name! This "Chicago Chair Company" style chair is actually made by a company called ZuoMod.This style of chair is also known as the "Trafico" line and comes in different colors. The Chicago Chair Company may be a rebranded name and typically if you find CCC, then it's only going to come in Jet Black or Dark Brown color. The Trafico line actually comes in White and Red as well.

The chair design is best described as "Wireframe".The main supports are all metal tubes bent into shape to hold the seat padding into place. It uses a standard gas / c02 cylinder for adjusting the seat height, and it uses a synthetic leather material for the padding all around. There's not much to say elsewise about the chair from a technical standpoint, as it is very simplistic and functional.

Padding on this chair is extremely minimal, so it's comfort level is not as good as regular fabric chairs if you're the type of person who likes very plush seating. The arm rests (one again metal tubes bent into shape) have a very basic little padding piece adorned on top of the tube itself, giving you just enough surface to rest your arms on the material instead of the metal. The overall seat is designed on purpose to be very minimalistic, so there's a lot of space in the chair where you will be exposed; however you still feel secure enough to feel as if you're sitting in the chair.

The biggest draw in the design of this chair is that it's extremely breatheable and comfortable as a "summer" chair. It absoltely destroys "mesh" style chairs for temperature regualtion, and for those of you who have home offices and a heavy fabric chair, you know how uncomfortable it can be in a hot enviroment. The chair is also extremely light-weight and compact - it should slip under most office desks without issue.

Criticisms of the chair is that it's very light duty. This chair literally takes only 10 screws to put together and can be done in 5 minutes - it's as basic as basic gets. It's thin wireframe design also only appears to make the chair as durable as the consistant weight you will be putting on it.I would say that if you happen to have anyone sit in this chair for an extended period of time day to day, the weight limit should be roughly around 200lbs (90kg).Anything over than that, and the seating itself will probably start to fail rather quickly. There have been reports on other sites reviewing this chair that the padding on the main seat cushion goes bad (or to the point of being uncomfortable) in roughly about one year.I would say that owning this chair for some time now, I can say this is somewhat true but I don't know the weight and usage these people have put the chair through.I weigh 150lbs (68kg) and have put the chair through its paces - it still feels the same for me as the day I bought it.However my more "full figured" relatives that come over to sit in the chair at my desk, say it feels very "stiff" and rigid, almost "poking" on the seat area.Once again the padding on this chair is very thin and light-weight so I can understand why they might feel that way.

Remember that this is a low-back chair as well.My shoulder blades rest against the rear seat cushion comfortably, but I'm only 5'6".I think anyone who is 6' and taller would probably find the chair just too low to be comfortable, but once again this is subjective. There is no lumbar support on the chair BUT the seat backing is so taught and rigid, it does keep your back in proper posture if you happen to sit straight up in the recommended position.

All in all I do aboslutely love this chair because it really fits a niche, but it's definitely not for everyone. For style points, it's simply a "5" star rating due to it's elegant and simple design. For functionality, there's a lot of things that go against it due to it's very light-weight wire frame design that I have addressed above.I would highly recommend this chair simply for the purposes of adding seating to a space where you just need to sit down from time to time, but not for prolonged periods.Believe it or not; this chair is also a highly recommended chair for kitchen bars as it's design is very similar to a "stool" if you look at it, and it's very easy to maneuver and move around due to its light weight size making it more practical in a kitchen setting just in case you need to get it out of the way.

Personally, I bought this chair primarily for thermal regulation.I love mesh chairs, but the fabric material on most of them sometimes defeats the purpose of having a "breathable" chair that is suppose to keep you cool. This chair's low-back, open, non-fabric material is perfect for such an application and fits the bill in every way imaginable.Even your feet (if you're a socks in-doors type of guy/girl) rest on the metal wire frame on the bottom of the chair adding additional "cooling".I never feel stuffy while sitting in this chair and that's a really positive thing when you're hot.

If you're looking at this chair, I would HIGHLY recommend if you can see it in store and give it a test sit before purchasing it.You'll either love it or not care for it at all due to it's very niche design. You can find this chair at Fry's electronics if you happen to have one in your area (you can use their online site to check inventory before heading over), and Target sometimes has chairs from ZuoMod (remember the company that actually makes these chairs) for you to consider as well.
