Actually, much closer to what I would call chocolate brown - a very rich and attractive color. I don't believe anyone mentioned that the ottoman has a very well-designed hinged lid. When open, the lid may be tilted forward without crashing down. I couldn't be more satisfied. I may have to buy another.
